2015 New York International Auto Show: 2016 Porsche Boxster Spyder

Posted by

The 2016 Porsche Boxster gets a complete update for this year’s North American International Auto Show, with a 20-mm lower ride height, brakes from the 911 Carrera, more direct steering, and a 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine with an output of 375 hp.

What Is It?

The Boxster Spyder is one of the last remaining true sports cars, a two seat, mid-engined convertible with a manual top and a manual transmission only. There’s probably more early 911 in this car than the current 911.

What Porsche Is Saying

“As a true original roadster, the Boxster Spyder offers a traditional sports-car driving experience but with contemporary performance. ”

What’s New for 2016?

  • 20mm lower ride height
  • Porsche 911 Carrera brakes
  • 4.3 second zero to 60
  • Top track speed of 180 mph
  • Smaller 360mm steering wheel for more direct steering
  • Radio and air conditioning optional

When Does It Go On Sale?

The 2016 Porsche Boxster Spyder goes on sale in October of 2015, with an MSRP of $82,100.
