With a bit of ground clearance, some subtle cladding and all-wheel drive, Volkswagen announces the Golf SportWagen Alltrack, a car that it hopes can take on the likes of the Subaru Outback with a  lot more driving engagement. What Is It?

The Golf SportWagen is all new for this year, and by the time 2016 hits, you’ll be able to buy this one, with 4MOTION all-wheel drive, electronic differential locks, higher ground clearance and the “load carrying capacity of a compact SUV.”

Coinciding with the arrival of the all-new Golf SportWagen, currently available in dealer showrooms, Volkswagen is pleased to announce that the all-wheel-drive Alltrack model will go on sale in 2016 as a 2017 model. “
