Three weeks and counting until Grammy Award winning singer Sheryl Crowe, legendary Motown musicians The Commodores, and an aerial acrobat are expected among the attractions for the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. These bright stars, as bold and talented as they may well be, will not hold a candle to the real stars of the show. The cars: Concepts, debuts, exotics, racers, and prototypes will all be on display for the World to see as Detroit, America’s motor-city — a city in tremendous financial turmoil — steps up and takes center stage in what promises to be an auto show for the ages.

BMW Global will present several models for the first time anywhere. Unveiling their M-Series convertible, at the LA Auto Show earlier this year, BMW intends to unleash the potent M3 and M4 in Detroit, along with the new 2015 2-Series.

  • BMW 2-SeriesThe all-new 2015 model 2-Series will replace the 1-Series, in keeping with the new BMW model numbering system which places an even number on coupes and an odd number on sedans. It will be offered as either a 228i or a 335i.  The 228i will come equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which produces 240-horsepower and the 335i will be fitted with an inline six-cylinder 3.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged engine that puts out 315-horses and 332 lb.-ft. of torque, Both engines feature High-Precision Direct Injection and Variable Valve Timing.
  • The M3, now offered only as a sedan, will be outfitted with the famed M-Sport suspension and braking system, as well as a 425-horsepower 3.0-liter I6-cylinder engine, with twin scroll turbocharged induction. An all-new aluminum engine block and heads, as well as the low-inertia twin turbo configuration allows for higher RPMS and lighter weight. BMW purists should be pleased.
  • BMW M4The M4, which will be equipped with the same engine as the M3, with a slightly lower gross vehicle rating (183 lbs.) and two-door composition, should be a challenging foe on street or track. The M4 is expected to post a 0-60mph time of just 4.1-seconds, when equipped with the six-speed manual transmission and 3.9-seconds with the optional DCT-dual clutch automatic. Both the M3 and M4 also feature improved EPA fuel efficiency ratings.

ATS CoupeI don’t even think that Mary Barra (incoming head and first female CEO of GM) can get a clear look at the all-new 2015 Cadillac ATS-Coupe; expected to hit showrooms in the spring.  Inspired by the ATS, which is one of their best selling models, Cadillac expects the ATS Coupe to be extremely popular among first time Caddy buyers. It will be offered with engine options similar to those of the ATS Sedan: 2.5-liter four-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbo, or 3.6-liter V6.

lexus rc fToyota’s luxury line of premium quality vehicles will debut what promises to be a highlight of the Detroit Auto Show. The all-new 2015 Lexus RC-F sports coupe, powered by a 460-horsepower V8 engine, will offer stunning great looks, tight handling, and super-smooth acceleration right out of the box.

These are only a few of the many vehicles expected for worldwide debut during the 2014 NAIAS in Detroit.
