North American International Auto Show 2016: 2017 Ford Raptor SuperCrew

Posted by
Ford took the wraps off the Ford Raptor SuperCrew — a four-door version of its all-new, EcoBoost-powered performance pickup — today at the 2016 North American International Auto Show.

What Is It?

The Ford Raptor — for a short time —  was about the only real performance pickup in the marketplace, but now other manufacturers have come along to try and steal its thunder. With a second set of doors, though, the Raptor SuperCrew moves into the family pickup truck segment, allowing buyers to take the kids along to share the fun.

The Raptor debuted as a SuperCab at last year’s Detroit show, but SuperCrew four-door models amounted to about 80% of Ford’s Raptor sales volume in the last version, so a four-door model is hardly a surprise.

Ford’s been quiet about exact performance specifications from the 3.5-liter EcoBoost powered Raptor to this point, but the twin-turbo V-6 is expected to outgun the 411-hp, 434-lb.-ft.  6.2L V-8 that was in the last version of the truck.

What Ford Is Saying

“F-150 Raptor means superior off-road capability, from rock crawling to sand running,” said Dave Pericak, Ford Performance global director. “With the addition of SuperCrew, F-150 Raptor customers can leave the pavement behind – without sacrificing comfort and space.”
