Porsche may sell a lot of SUVs these days, but when you think “Porsche,” 911 Turbo is the thing that comes to mind. At the 2016 North American International Auto Show, Porsche introduces the 2017 edition of both its 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S models.

What Is It?

It’s the Porsche that is most inextricably linked to the Porsche brand. These top-of-the-line 911 trims are going to be available in both coupe and convertible bodystyles for 2017, and will be equipped with engines featuring a 20hp boost from last year.

The 3.8 liter twin-turbo six-cylinder engine that powers the 2017 911 Turbo will develop 540 hp, thanks to modified intake ports in the cylinder heads, new fuel injectors, and higher fuel pressure.

The 911 Turbo S increases to 580 hp with new turbochargers and larger impellers. Torque also increases to 553 lb.-ft. in overboost compared to 523 lb.-ft. on the Turbo, and the Turbo S runs to a higher 7200 rpm redline.

When Does It Go On Sale?
The 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S go on sale in April of 2016. Prices are set at $159,200 for the 911 Turbo, $171,500 for the 911 Turbo Cabriolet, $188,100 for the 911 Turbo S, and $200,400 for the 911 Turbo S Cabriolet.
