Dodge Power Dollars Gives You $10 per Horsepower on a New Dodge

Automakers offer all kinds of discounts to lure buyers into the showroom in an effort to move cars from the dealership to your driveway. Sometimes discounts are for a certain model or trim and they’re always for a limited time to add that ever-important sense of urgency. Dodge is appealing to the horsepower enthusiasts of the world by offering $10 per horsepower on select new 2019 model year vehicles.

It’s a clever idea given Dodge’s propensity for stuffing as much horsepower as engineers can manage into its muscle cars. The program started on August 1 and applies to the 2019 Challenger, Charger, and Durango. While some incentive programs get ridiculously complex, this one is straightforward. If you’re looking at a 500-horsepower car, then you get a $5,000 discount. Go for the 797-horsepower Challenger Hellcat Redeye and the discount is $7,970.

This is clearly geared toward all those muscle car enthusiasts, which means you can’t get the discount on the Grand Caravan or the Dodge Journey. Those aren’t exactly horsepower monsters though, so it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to include them anyway. This promo is all about the horsepower.

“Since bringing the Charger and Challenger back to market, Dodge has put 485 million horsepower into the hands of our loyal enthusiasts,” said Tim Kuniskis, Global Head of Alfa Romeo and Head of Passenger Cars – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America. “Dodge has more horsepower than anyone else, and we want to share it and give those who have always wanted more the ability to get more. The goal is to grow to a half-billion horsepower before the end of the year. This is what we believe John and Horace Dodge would want us to do.”

That’s five months for Dodge to rack up some sales and for horsepower fans to fulfill their muscle car fantasies. It’s good news if you’re considering a Dodge and it helps Dodge clear some 2019 models off its showroom floor just in time for the 2020 models to arrive.

Those new models include the Charger Widebody, so if you’re hoping to take advantage of the discount on that vehicle, then you’re out of luck. Still, there’s a heck of a lot of very appealing horsepower sitting on the showroom floor right now that is eligible for this incentive.
