The season of monsters and ghosts and things that go bump in the night might be over, but that doesn’t mean the threat of zombies is gone. Any minute now some smartypants in a lab in a hidden bunker beneath a mountain might unleash a virus that turns us all in to walking corpses. You’ll want to be ready when that happens, which is why you need this 1995 Zombie Slayer Mitsubishi Eclipse.
Let’s take a good look at this Frankenstein creation, which happens to be for sale on Craigslist. What we have here is a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse sitting on a 1980’s Nissan 4×4 frame. It’s powered by a Chevy 305 V8 and it’s all been given a 4-inch lift, presumably to more easily drive over undead bodies.
The Zombie Slayer sports an olive drab paint job with bright splashes of red blood to add a little color and give it that something extra to make it stand out from the crowd. Add 22-inch wheels, again to help with mashing zombie bodies, and some props that will likely get you pulled over and arrested in most states.
Mounted to the roof is a prop gun along with a jerry can and a couple of case of ammunition, though accessing that is going to be a challenge from inside the car. This thing needs a roof access panel. Seriously, what were the guys who built this thinking when they put weapons on an inaccessible roof?
Aside from that one minor flaw, the design looks like a fairly solid way to manage the coming zombie apocalypse. It could also be useful for trying to find a parking spot at the mall between now and Christmas. It’s your call.
There are a few issues with the Zombie Slayer. According to the ad on Craigslist, there’s an unknown power draw that kills the battery and the two front tires keep getting low so they may need resealing. These are but small issues that can easily be overcome by the industrious prepper.
You can have the Zombie Slayer all to yourself for $3,000 if you’ve got the know-how to keep it running. It’s for sale in South Carolina and the current owner says it’s completely street-legal. Maybe, but I’m still thinking that roof rack is going to attract some unwanted attention from the local authorities. Best wait until the undead truly start walking before you get that loaded up.
