2016 Nissan RogueAnyone who has ever had a lift gate fall on their head can relate to the seriousness of this National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall. Nissan has hit a snag with certain Rogue SUVs. Check out the details below.

It certainly is great to have a new and used car website like to provide us with the latest major NHTSA recalls, automotive news and views, and millions of listings for new and used vehicles of every type.

If you don’t find your vehicle listed in a major recall, log onto the NHTSA website and enter your vehicle identification number (VIN). An NHTSA VIN search can make you aware of any current recalls in which your vehicle is included.

NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V219000
Nissan Recall Campaign Number:

2016 Nissan Rogue SideVehicles Affected: Certain 2014-2016 Nissan Rogue vehicles manufactured from July 31, 2013 through January 16, 2016. Approximately 108,503 vehicles are expected for inclusion in this recall campaign.

In the affected vehicles, the rear lift gate support stays may corrode due to insufficient anti-corrosion treatment.

Corrosion of one or both of the rear lift gate support stays could cause a sudden release of pressure. If this occurs, the support stays may break off, increasing the risk of injury.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear tailgate stays, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. Owners will be sent interim notifications by mid-June 2016. A second notice will be sent when remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.
