Safety Recall UpdateWhen you get into your trusted vehicle, there is just nothing as important as safety. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is dedicated to helping automakers and drivers to make our highways and surface streets safer for everyone. 2013 Dodge DurangoThe question is: how can you tell if your vehicle is currently under an NHTSA safety recall? Well, you can wait for a notification letter from your vehicle manufacturer, you can visit the NHTSA website and enter your vehicle identification number (VIN), or you can call your local new vehicle dealership and they’ll search recalls for your vehicle. The VIN is located on the driver side dash and is easily visible when standing outside the vehicle and looking through the lower, left corner of the windshield.

You can also log on to for the latest major (over 100,000-units) NHTSA recalls, automotive news and views, and millions of listings for high-quality new and used vehicles from every era and in every color and configuration imaginable.

2013 Jeep Grand CherokeeVehicles Affected: Certain 2011-2013 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured from December 3, 2009 through September 1, 2012. Approximately 388,504 vehicles are expected for inclusion in this recall campaign.


In the affected vehicles, the wiring for the vanity lamp in the sun visor may short circuit. This could occur after the vehicle has been previously repaired under a prior recall for the vanity lamp wiring. This recall is also addressing certain vehicles that have not been repaired under that previous recall.


The vanity lamp wiring may short, increasing the risk of a vehicle fire.


Chrysler will notify owners. The remedy plan is still being developed. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403.
