Toyota Airbag Recall

PriusOne of the nation’s leading automakers has been bitten by the recall bug. Toyota and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have announced a recall campaign that includes nearly a half-million vehicles.

You can put your mind at ease (regarding your personal vehicle/s) by going to the NHTSA website and submitting your vehicle identification number (VIN). In a matter of seconds, you will know for sure if your vehicle is under a current NHTSA recall.

Your VIN can best be read by standing on the outside and looking in – through the driver side of the windshield that is. The VIN has 17-characters and is stamped or etched on a small metal tag that is affixed to the dash.

Toyota Recall Campaign Number: Toyota G0U and Lexus GLJ

2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in HybridVehicles Affected: Certain 2010-2012 Toyota Prius, 2010 and 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid, and 2011-2012 Lexus CT200h vehicles. Approximately 482,002 vehicles are expected for inclusion in this recall campaign.


A weld in the curtain shield air bag inflator may crack causing one or both portions of the inflator to eject into the passenger cabin.


If either portion of the curtain shield air bag inflator ejects into the passenger cabin, there is an increased risk of injury to vehicle occupants.


2012 Lexus CT200hToyota will notify owners, and dealers will install retention brackets to the curtain shield air bags, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin July 25, 2016. Owners may contact Toyota Customer Service Department at 1-800-331-4331.
