Have you been looking for some key drivetrain components for your slammed 1st gen Toyota Prius project? If so, this is the mother lode.
Maybe you are just into vintage hybrids and plan to keep your project car bone stock. Either way, this listing on Craigslist is rare and important. The lister says he has not one, but two original, new and unused batteries for a Prius model years 2001, 2002, or 2003 which he calls a “Generation II Prius.” Our research and memory says that was the first US generation Prius, so perhaps we are both right. The batteries are new and unused in original factory packaging.
If $2,000 is too much scratch for your budget, you may still want to speak to this person. Also listed are two other complete Prius drivetrains from totaled Prii. There may not be a better source in the Northeastern US for early US Prius drivetrains.
About the Prius: Toyota’s 2001 through 2003 model years for the Prius are the years Toyota says it first broke even on the Prius. The Prius has gone on to be the vehicle that has saved more gasoline than any other nameplate, and it presently outsells the entire battery-electric car market in the US. Setting aside its green-car credentials for a moment, the Prius was the number one car registered in California in many recent years. The Prius currently outsells every individual model made by many popular car brands in the US and in February the Prius family outsold all of Cadillac combined. The Prius c, called the Aqua in its home market, is the top selling car model in Japan.
Hat tip to David B. Traver Adolphus for spotting this first.
