VIDEO: Land Rover Debuts the 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR

Posted by

This morning, Land Rover announced the specifications and some video footage of the 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR, the fastest Range Rover ever, capable of running to 60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds, with a limited top speed of 162 miles per hour.

The statistics are breathtaking for a vehicle that weighs 5,148 pounds:

  • 550hp and 502lb-ft of torque
  • 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds
  • Top speed: 162 miles per hour (electronically limited)
  • A lap time of 8 minutes 14 seconds on Germany’s legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife

At the same time, it still retains all of the off-highway prowess that Range Rover built its reputation upon. “The Range Rover Sport SVR is a natural progression beyond the core vehicle’s outstanding on- and off-road capabilities and leading-edge design,” said John Edwards, Managing Director of Land Rover Special Operations. “It’s exhilarating performance will satisfy a particularly demanding customer set.”

The Range Rover Sport SVR features the same eight-speed ZF 8HP70 automatic transmission included with the Jaguar F-Type. With eight close ratios, ZF reduced shift times by 50 percent, leading to short, precise shifts and a more “immediate connection to the vehicle.”

Land Rover released a video today showing the 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR on a wet Silverstone track:
