All-New 2019 GMC Sierra Denali – Truck Capability with Luxury Style

Posted by

There was a time when trucks were mostly about getting stuff done. They were the vehicles of construction workers and landscapers or people who owned ranches and farms. The 2019 GMC Sierra Denali can do all that, but it can also just as easily take you to the theater on a Saturday night or to your office job in the city on Monday morning.

GMC is an upscale brand. Take the base models of any of its trucks and SUVs and you’ll find them more well-equipped than many mid-range models from other automakers. In the other direction is the Denali sub-brand. This label finds its way only to the top trims of GMC’s vehicles. These are the ultra-luxurious versions of what is already a luxurious lineup.

High-end SUVs aren’t a new concept. Leather interiors, high-quality sound systems, the latest technology, and advanced safety are perfectly normally for those vehicles. The Sierra Denali, however, is a full-size truck.

Luxury doesn’t entirely fit with the image of men working at a job site getting stuff done, and yet that’s exactly what you get with the Sierra Denali. Despite what you see in most truck ads, an increasing number of people want a truck that can go from job site to office or dirt road to highway. That’s when the GMC Sierra, and especially the Denali trim, is a perfect fit.

There are stripped down work trucks out there. If you want a truck that does nothing more than get the job done with a minimum of features and a budget-friendly price, then there are plenty of choices. If you want a truck that looks and feels like a luxury car, then you need to be looking at a GMC Sierra.

It’s an attractive truck in any trim, but the Denali is downright impressive. It sports its own unique grille and wheels. There are standard features like deployable side steps that swing not just out, but backward so you can easily reach into the rear of the bed from over the sides.

The Sierra Denali also comes standard with the all-new MultiPro tailgate featuring six configurations. Yes, that’s right, six. There’s a primary tailgate, inner tailgate, load stop, steps, inner gate as work surface, and inner gate as second tier. And you can get the tailgate with an optional built-in sound system for the inevitable tailgate parties you’ll want to have once you buy a Sierra Denali.

Inside, the story is all about luxury. There are heated and cooled leather seats with power-adjustability that allows even the shortest of drivers a perfect view of the road. Open-pore wood and real aluminum trims complement the rich leathers. It doesn’t feel like a work truck. It feels like a luxury car.

There are also the things you can’t see, like Adaptive Ride control, which add to the Sierra Denali experience. Exclusive to the Denali trim, it monitors the road and adjusts damping to provide better control for the driver and a smoother ride for passengers.

There are helpful features like storage compartments tucked into the rear outboard seatbacks, a rear under-seat storage bin, and two glove boxes. This is a luxury vehicle, but it’s still a truck and never forgets that people use trucks for work, too.

Power comes from either a 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque or a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It offers a choice of two-wheel or four-wheel drive and, depending on the exact configuration you choose, the Sierra Denali can tow up to 9,600 pounds. It looks good and is still ready to get down to work.

That’s really the beauty of the GMC Sierra Denali. It’s an elegant luxury vehicle with a beautiful, comfortable interior and remarkably smooth ride. At the same time it’s a work truck with features like the MultiPro tailgate, powerful engine options, and good towing.

Those who want their truck to be the best of both worlds, will find the all-new 2019 GMC Sierra Denali offers an ideal combination of luxury and utility. It’s arriving in dealerships now with pricing starting at $54,700.
