2015 Honda Accord Coupe

The 2015 Honda Accord Coupe is the sexier cousin of the Accord Sedan with the long nose and short tail that are today’s sports car hallmarks. It’s even got dual chrome tipped exhausts just so you’re sure not to miss that this Accord is the fun one.

It comes in four different flavors starting with the base LS-X which you can get into to for $23,775 then moving on up through the EX and EX-L, all of which come with a 4-cylinder engine. If that sounds like not enough power to make you happy, then you’ll want to take a look at the EX-L V6 which starts at $30,775 and was our tester for the week.

Two-door cars automatically look sportier regardless of what’s lurking under their hoods. They’ve got that swooping design that makes them look like they’re in motion even when they’re sitting still and the Accord Coupe does a really good job of nailing this look without going overboard.

2015 Honda Accord Coupe Front Quarter

This isn’t a souped up Civic, this is an Accord so the sportiness is there, but in a tame and decidedly more elegant manner. There are 18″ alloy wheels, fog lights, a rear decklid spoiler, lighting that looks fantastic at night, and a one-touch power moonroof but no overly aggressive aerodynamic kits. That’s simply not what you want in an Accord.

2015 Honda Accord Coupe Rear Seating

Inside, the story is the same with a comfortable and attractive interior. Leather trimmed seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel set the expectation and it’s well met when you sit down in a supportive, 10-way adjustable driver’s seat with two memory settings. Front seats are also heated so winter mornings will be easier to bear.

As is typical of Hondas, the fit and finish is very good, giving you the sense that you’re right on the border of a luxury car. There are plenty of soft surfaces for resting your elbows and it feels as good as it looks. The cabin is welcoming and is very quiet providing an oasis against the world outside your windows. This coupe feels a lot like a well-equipped four-door sedan.

There is seating for five, but this is still a two-door coupe so getting to those rear seats is not for the faint of heart. Although access is good for a coupe, with the front seat pulling forward nicely, it’s still a bit of a squeeze. Fitting more than two adults in the back can be tricky, and leaving them there for any amount of time would be asking a lot, especially with the narrow legroom. Three adults had best be very good friends should they plan to call the rear seats home.

2015 Honda Accord Coupe Dash

Given the sporty exterior and the very lush interior of the Accord Coupe, one might be expecting a true sports car driving experience. Did we mention that this is an Accord? That’s not what this car is about so you’re not going to get sports car aggressive. Instead what you get is a coupe that nicely walks the line between sedan and sports car. The 278 horsepower 3.5-liter V6 with 6-speed automatic transmission is very responsive and you’ve got paddle shifters to play with if you’re so inclined. You can even opt for a manual transmission.

Accelerating to highway speeds is effortless, and quiet, without the intrusion of a sports car rumble. If you want power, mash that gas pedal and it delivers. Handling is good with well-weighted steering that is on center and responsive. Whether you’re on highways at high speeds or ambling through twisting back roads, the Accord Coupe is an easy ride.

The Accord has been a hugely popular car for a lot of years and it’s managed to continually change to keep up with the times not by reinventing itself and becoming radically new, but by providing a consistently high-quality ride. The 2015 Accord Coupe EX-L V6 provides the look and feel of a sports cars with the drive and comfort of a well-equipped sedan that make it a pleasure to drive.
